Rowena Smith has been Chief Sustainability Officer of South32 Limited since August 2017. She served as Vice President of Supply for the Australia Region of South32 Limited since March 2015 until August 2017. She has 25 years' international experience in logistics and marketing positions.
Rowena is responsible for health, safety, environment, sustainability and security in her role as chief sustainability officer, and has been with South32 since 2015 as VP of supply in the Australia region.
Prior to joining South32, Rowena worked with BHP Billiton Nickel West as Head of Resource Planning and Development and also held senior roles in marketing and operations, including General Manager, Kwinana Nickel Refinery.
Prior to that Rowena worked in operational leadership roles within Rio Tinto’s aluminium smelting business.
Rowena currently serves as Chair of the Women and Infants Research Foundation (WIRF), the charitable arm of King Edward Memorial Hospital in Perth, Western Australia.
