WIRF Gala Q&A with Alan Linney

linneys-alan-boys.jpgAs part of their continued Gold Sponsorship of the WIRF Gala, we sat down with Linneys Founder, Alan Linney to discuss his own very personal linkage to WIRF’s work and what continues to drive Linneys support of the Foundation.

.................................................................................

Q: Alan, another year as Gold Sponsor of the WIRF Gala. What is it about the event which continues to strike a chord with you?

A: Learning about the critical work that WIRF were delivering to improve the health of women, babies and families in Western Australia and on a global scale really resonated with us. To see what the success of the 2018 event has enabled the Foundation to achieve in the past 12 months gives us great pride as it should for everyone involved in the event.

Q: What are some of the commonalities you think that Linneys share with WIRF and its work?

A: At its core, Linneys is a  West Australian family owned business that supports the younger generation as the future of our jewellery industry but also works closely with the families of our staff as they form part of the extended Linneys family.

Our creations endeavour to celebrate and cherish special family moments so our values are very closely aligned with WIRF’s and their work to improve the health and wellbeing of West Australian families.

Q: You’ve got a particular interest in WIRF’s pioneering work to prevent preterm birth. Can you expand on this?

A: I think what they are achieving in this space is absolutely astounding. To think that an organisation literally a stone’s throw from our showroom is leading the world in new ways to prevent early birth, and the heartache associated with it, is incredible. Professor John Newnham, his team, and their work on behalf of thousand s of WA families, should be applauded.

On a personal note, Michelle and I were lucky enough to have five healthy children of our own and now our children and giving us the precious gift of happy and healthy grandchildren. I couldn’t imagine the journey families of extremely preterm babies must go through. Any way we can contribute to making this a thing of the past is a worthwhile investment.
