A new Lotterywest grant is set to provide critical support for Western Australian mothers, babies and families in real need during COVID-19.
The Lotterywest COVID-19 Crisis Grant funding allocated to the Women & Infants Research Foundation (WIRF) and the Social Work team at King Edward Memorial Hospital (KEMH), will provide vital support to vulnerable and remote patients during the pandemic.
Specifically, it will enable WIRF and KEMH to respond to an ever growing need and supply patients with Women’s Crisis Care Packs, Baby Bundles and Women’s Mental Health Packs.
WIRF Chief Operations Director, Deb Portughes, said Lotterywest’s support during the pandemic could not be overstated.
“It has been of great comfort to the social work team to immediately support our vulnerable and remote patients during restrictions and this next phase of COVID-19,” she said.
“The Lotterywest grant has enabled the team to immediately respond and supply patients with Women’s Crisis Care Packs, Baby Bundles and Women’s Mental Health Packs including warm clothing and essentials.
“Because of Lotterywest’s assistance WIRF can continue to serve the community and offer support even during this time of crisis.”
Each year Lotterywest provides invaluable assistance to not-for-profit organisations to support the things that make WA an even better place to live.
