About Dr Brennen Mills

Senior Lecturer, School of Medical and Health Sciences at Edith Cowan University, Perth, Western Australia.

Dr Brennen Mills is a Senior Lecturer and active researcher in Paramedical Science and Public Health at the School of Medical and Health Sciences. He also serves as the Chair of the School’s Ethics Subcommittee. Dr Mills’ research interests focus on virtual and augmented reality, simulation-based learning, pre-hospital education, and interprofessional practice. His innovative work has earned numerous national and international awards, including the 2024 Young Tall Poppy Award and several awards for excellence in technology and social impact.

His current research involves a pilot evaluation of an immersive, virtual-reality birthing simulation training application, NEONATE in VR, designed for paramedics, volunteer ambulance officers, and student healthcare professionals. This project aims to enhance preparedness and confidence in responding to out-of-hospital births, improving neonatal care in the critical first minutes of life, particularly in rural and remote regions.
