More than 220 guests attended the 2022 WIRF Gala at which an astounding $212,000 was raised to support WIRF’s critical work to improve the health of all Western Australian women, mothers and babies.
Guests including leading philanthropists, sporting personalities, private industry, and health and medical representatives, descended onto the spectacularly presented Ritz-Carlton Ballroom for the Foundation’s flagship event held on Saturday, 15 October in partnership with its Major Sponsor Aigle Royal Group.
Emceed by Bec Marsh, attendees included the Governor of Western Australia, His Excellency the Hon Chris Dawson APM and Mrs Dawson, WA Minister for Medical Research, The Hon Stephen D., Member for Joondalup, Ms Emily Hamilton MLA, and the Foundation’s Ambassadors Mike and Amy Hussey.
Among the featured speakers on the evening also included WIRF’S CEO, Deborah Attard Portughes, and WIRF’s Chief Scientific Director, Professor Matt Kemp, who captivated the Gala audience with their presentations on the Foundation’s achievements to-date and exciting future directions and research
initiatives.
The Gala was also an opportunity for guests to share in the announcement of His Excellency the Honourable Chris Dawson APM, Governor of Western Australia, as WIRF’s new Patron.
