Peta is the Area Director of Nursing and Midwifery for the South Metropolitan Health Service. A proud nurse and midwife with additional qualifications in paediatric nursing, Peta has dedicated over a decade to the women’s, children’s, and newborn health space at Fiona Stanley Hospital.
During her tenure, Peta served as the clinical lead in establishing the Fiona Stanley Hospital Family Birth Centre model of care in 2019, overseeing its growth as the only maternity service within a tertiary quaternary hospital in Western Australia. She is widely recognised as a leader in service innovation, with a strong focus on codesign and meaningful consumer engagement to deliver patient-centred care within the health service.
Witnessing the profound impact of innovative research on maternal and infant health inspired Peta to join the WIRF Board. She sees the Foundation’s mission as essential and is passionate about promoting the translation of research into practice to enhance care for vulnerable populations.
Leveraging her extensive background and professional network, she seeks to foster collaborations between researchers, healthcare providers, and community organisations, ensuring that research is both practical and impactful.
A strong advocate for raising awareness about women’s and infants’ health, Peta is dedicated to engaging stakeholders and the wider community in WIRF’s mission, driving greater support for the Foundation’s initiatives and advancing health outcomes for future generations.
