Dr Mathias Epee is an experienced obstetrician and gynaecologist with over 20 years of expertise gained across Australia, Europe, and Africa. His diverse background has equipped him with a deep understanding of patient needs and the ability to provide personalised, contextualised care.
After working extensively in hospitals across Cameroon, South Africa, France, and England, Dr Epee joined Perth’s leading women’s hospital, King Edward Memorial Hospital (KEMH), as a specialist in 2014. He continues to serve as a generalist obstetrician and gynaecologist, offering maternity care, performing benign gynaecological surgeries, and contributing to teaching, research, leadership, and management.
Dr Epee has held several senior roles at KEMH, including Head of Department, and currently leads the hospital’s Placenta Accreta Service. He also supports Western Australia’s healthcare system by providing education through Rural Health West and offering services in country hospitals.
Passionate about medical education, Dr Epee plays a key role in training medical students and future obstetricians and gynaecologists. His dedication to research was recently recognised with a Telethon grant for his work on the origins of Placenta Accreta. He has published numerous scientific papers and reviews at local, national, and international levels.
Currently, Dr Epee is pursuing a Master of Reproductive Health at the University of New South Wales. In addition to his public hospital work, he practices privately at Genea Perth, helping individuals and couples navigate subfertility challenges.
