Joanne’s professional drive is fuelled knowing the work she does makes a tangible and long-lasting impact on the families Helping Little Hands supports. Combining lived experience as a parent of an extremely preterm baby and surviving twin with her professional expertise in the not-for-profit sector, Joanne co-founded and leads Helping Little Hands to ensure that families of premature and sick babies are empowered and enabled to spend time in hospital performing their vital role as parents.
Joanne is an active and respected consumer voice who channels her own personal lived experience and passion into a variety of roles, including the Women and Newborn Health Service Community Advisory Council, the Telethon Preterm Community Reference Group and the COVID National Community Advisory Group.
A key focus of Joanne’s work is to ensure that language is clear and explanatory from a consumer perspective when research is translated into practice or clinical trials are established.
Joanne holds a MA (Hons) and has received a number of awards and nominations for her work, including the 2020 WA Business News 40 under 40 award.
