About Kristina Magoutas

Kristina Magoutas is an early career researcher in the field of biomedical science, with a focus on microbiology and women’s health. In 2022, she completed her undergraduate degree in biomedical science at The University of Western Australia, majoring in physiology and women’s health, where she developed a keen interest in assisted reproduction and conception. In 2023 Kristina completed her Honours degree, during which she conducted pioneering research on the seminal microbiome and its relationship with diet and semen quality. Her work earned her the Women and Infants Research Foundation Student Acceleration Award, recognising her significant contributions to the field.

Building on her passion for women’s health, in 2024 Kristina commenced her PhD, with her research focusing on the vaginal microbiome across the menstrual cycle. Her research aims to uncover the intricate changes and impacts of various factors such as diet, mood, stress, sex, and exercise on the vaginal microbiome, with the goal of advancing our understanding of menstrual health.

Kristina’s dedication to research and her commitment to improving women’s health continue to drive her academic and professional pursuits.
