Dr Dane Cheasley is a senior research scientist at The University of Western Australia and the Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre. He leads a translational research program integrating multiomics, functional genomics and high-throughput drug screening to address critical clinical and biological challenges in rare and aggressive ovarian cancers.
Dr Cheasley has secured competitive funding from the National Health and Medical Research Council, the Medical Research Future Fund, Cancer Council WA, the Ovarian Cancer Research Foundation, the U.S. Department of Defense, and has been supported by multiple fellowships in his career, including a Victorian Cancer Agency Mid-Career Fellowship.
His research focuses on developing precision diagnostics and personalised therapeutic strategies for women with low-grade serous ovarian carcinoma, with the goal of improving diagnosis, treatment selection and patient outcomes. He also has active research in hereditary breast cancer, applying genomic technologies to better understand cancer risk.
Dr Cheasley is an invited Scientific Member of the International Consortium for Low-Grade Serous Ovarian Cancer and an Ambassador for the Australian Gynaecological Cancer Foundation. His research bridges laboratory discovery and clinical translation, with a strong focus on accelerating the implementation of precision medicine for women with cancer.
