About Dr Gayatri Jape
Dr Gayatri Jape is a highly accomplished consultant neonatal paediatrician with extensive clinical, academic, and leadership experience. After completing her MBBS (2002) and MD in Paediatrics (2007) from the University of Mumbai, both with distinction, she moved with her family to Australia in 2009 and earned her Fellowship from the Royal Australasian College of Physicians in 2013.
Her advanced qualifications include certifications in clinician-performed ultrasound (ASUM, 2019 and 2024), graduate certificate in autism diagnosis (UWA, 2019), and graduate certificate in clinical leadership (UC Davis, 2020), and a PhD from The University of Western Australia in 2022.
Dr Jape has served as a consultant neonatal paediatrician at King Edward Memorial Hospital for Women in Perth since 2015 and leads the Neonatal Follow-Up Program.
She has held key roles in national committees, including Chair of the PSANZ Long Term Outcomes sub-committee and member of the ANZNN and Newborn Brain Society.
Her research focuses on probiotics in preterm infants, enteral nutrition, gut-brain axis, and neurodevelopmental outcomes, including autism in preterm.
She has led two clinical trials and contributes actively to academic publishing and peer review.
Dr Jape is a Clinical Associate Professor at The University of Western Australia, Curtin and Edith Cowan University, and an Honorary Research Associate at The Kids Research Institute Australia.
Her memberships span several prestigious organisations, including the Society for Pediatric Research, and Newborn Brain Society.
