Attilia & Marco Tomasi Gift Matching Program

FINAL2-(2).jpgThe Women & Infants Research Foundation are thrilled to announce a major donation from one of its long-time supporters.

Announced at a special event at Government House on World Prematurity Day 2020, the Tomasi family have contributed $50,000 to WIRF as part of a donation matching program in memory of Attilia Tomasi and her son Marco.

This means that the next $50,000 in donations will be matched dollar-for-dollar. Donate to the Attilia and Marco Tomasi Gift Matching Program here.

This incredibly generous donation will provide much needed support for research and programs with strong linkages to experiences Attilia encountered in her own life including the tragic loss of her own son Marco as a newborn baby.

In 1973, Attilia and husband Frank lost their son, Marco, when he was only one week old and it had a lasting impact on them.

Attilia was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2003 and in 2018 she passed away after bravely fighting the disease - always keeping her family as her primary focus.

The Tomasi family first contacted WIRF in September 2018 for an appeal to remember and celebrate Attilia’s life. The Appeal would go onto raise more than $25,000 to support WA women, mothers and babies in need.

The Attilia and Marco Tomasi Gift Matching Program will directly support WIRF’s priority research and programs to prevent preterm birth and support women undergoing a cancer journey.

Attilia will forever be remembered as a much loved wife, adored and loving mother, and cherished nonna.

WIRF sincerely thanks Frank Tomasi and the entire Tomasi family for their incredibly generous ongoing support.
